MINNEAPOLIS Newpaper Obituary - Doris J. Frain, 94, Minneapolis, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. Mrs. Frain was born Doris J. Nelson on Feb. 17, 1906, near Brookville and had lived near Minneapolis since 1933, moving from rural Culver. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, both of Minneapolis. Her husband, Theodore E., died in 1975. Survivors include two sons, Robert of Clearwater and Richard of Minneapolis; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shields Funeral Home, 405 Argyle, Minneapolis 67467, Jeff Metzler officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials may be
made to Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The casket will remain closed.
DORIS J. FRAIN Doris J. Frain was born February 17, 1906 on a farm south of Brookville, the daughter of Andrew A. and Emily J. Bowman Nelson. She passed away December 27, 2000 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis, having reached the age of 94 years, nine months and ten days. She graduated from Falun High School and Kansas Wesleyan College of Commerce and worked as a secretary at an insurance agency in Salina prior to her marriage. She was united in marriage to Theodore E. Frain in 1929 at Culver. They lived on farms near Salina and Culver before moving to a farm southwest of Minneapolis in 1933. Her husband preceded her in death January 23, 1975. Doris was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women at Minneapolis. Survivors include two sons; Robert Frain of Clearwater, and Richard Frain of Minneapolis; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother Amos Nelson and two sisters, Bertha Nelson and Irene Brady. The funeral was December 30 at Shields Funeral Home with Jeff Metzler officiating. Organist was Melba Bruce. Honorary bearers were Victor Muller and Bud Johnson. Casket bearers were Randy Frain, Dennis Frain, Troy Frain, Jerry Frain, Sheldon Frain, Barbara Gilligan and Tim Gilligan. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. The family suggests memorials to the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. |
